Alcino Soutinho

Architect

Architect from the Porto School of Fine Arts since 1957, the year in which he began practising independently. In 1961 Alcino Soutinho was awarded a grant by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation to continue his research studies in museology in Italy.

Lecturer at the Porto School of Fine Arts from 1973, and later at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto.

Distinctions

1982 - “Europa Nostra” Award, for the restoration of the Castle of Vila Nova de Cerveira.

1984 - Award from the International Association of Art Critics.

1988 - Medal of Merit, Matosinhos Municipality.

1991 - Selected for the Mies Van der Rohe European Prize.

1992 - Medal of Merit, Vila Nova de Gaia Municipality.

1993 - Selected for the Portuguese representation at the São Paulo International Architecture Biennial.

1993 - Commander of the Military Order of Saint James of the Sword.

2008: Medal of Honour, Gold, Matosinhos Municipality.

2010: BID (Bienal Ibero-Americana) with the Larus Vesúvio bollards.
