David Adjaye
Architect
Born in Tanzania, he graduated in architecture from London South Bank University and holds a master's degree from the Royal College of Art, obtained in 1993.
In 2000 he founded Adjaye Associates, based in London.
Some of his works include the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver, the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo and the Skolkovo Moscow School of Management.
In 2009 he was selected to design the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington.
Distinctions
1993: RIBA, Bronze Medal for part 1 students.
2006: Nominated for the Stirling Prize for the Idea Store Whitechapel in London.
2008 - Design Futures Council Senior Fellow.
2011 - Design Miami/ Designer of the Year Award
2016 - Massachusetts Institute of Technology's McDermott award, prize for excellence in the arts.
