João Nunes

João Ferreira Nunes, landscape architect from the Instituto Superior de Agronomia of the Technical University of Lisbon, Master in Landscape Architecture from the Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitetura de Barcellona, Universitá Politecnica de Catalunya.

Founder and Director of PROAP, a landscape architecture studio that brings together a large group of professionals in a multidisciplinary team with different levels of specialisation in landscape, in its most inclusive sense.

As International Director, he is responsible for the strategic, executive and tactical leadership of the three international studios: Lisbon (Portugal), Luanda (Angola) and Treviso (Italy). He coordinates design, conceptual and creative activity and sets the strategic direction of research processes.

Lecturer at the schools where he trained, at the Facoltà di Architectura di Alghero of the Università degli Studi di Sassari, Italy, and at the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio of the University of Italian Switzerland, with occasional teaching at Harvard, Universitá de Girona, Università IUAV di Venezia, the School of Technology and Architecture at ISCTE, Lisbon, the Politecnico de Milano, Italy, Universidade Moderna, Politecnico di Torino, Roma La Sapienza, Roma Ludovico Quaroni, Facoltà di Architettura di Napoli and Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio.

Distinctions

2008 - National Landscape Architecture Award (PNAP).

2011 - Red Dot Design Award, with the Larus + line.

2011 - International competition for Khan Antoun Bey - Beirut, Lebanon.

2015 - First prize, “Competition for the Étoile urban planning project”, Geneva, Switzerland ( + Gonçalo Byrne and Pierre-Alain Dupraz).

2016 - Honourable Mention, Parque Urbano da Cruz de Montalvão, Castelo Branco - Portugal.
