Promontório

Founded by Paulo Martins Barata, João Luís Ferreira, Paulo Perloiro, Pedro Appleton and João Perloiro, PROMONTORIO began in Lisbon in 1990 as an experimental studio and has grown steadily into a multidisciplinary team of architects, landscape architects, interior designers and graphic designers.

Promontório's approach to urban form has consistently been identified with the search for a system of robustness (solidity, stability and durability), both in terms of representational meaning and in terms of research and innovation, applied in works of great scale and complexity.

From the outset, the team has worked as a cohesive structure geared towards large-scale urban projects, including schools, museums and institutional buildings, housing, offices, hotels and other mixed-use programmes. PROMONTORIO has developed projects for Germany, Algeria, Angola, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cape Verde, China, Dubai, Egypt, Hungary, Italy, Georgia, Mozambique, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Serbia, Syria, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and Vietnam, and has established partnerships in many of these countries.
