Outdoor planters with in-house design for public space

The outdoor planter is one of the elements of public space that contributes most to the perceived quality of a place. It introduces vegetation where the ground does not allow direct planting, defines boundaries between pedestrian and traffic areas, and contributes to the visual coherence of a space when it is part of a street furniture line in the same formal language.

The Larus catalogue includes 9 models of outdoor planter, in circular, square and rectangular shapes, with sizes suited to different scales of space: from compact planters for narrow pavements to large models for squares and street frontages.

Some models are dual purpose and can be used both as a planter and as a traffic barrier, which makes them suitable for pedestrian areas where vehicle access has to be controlled.

The models are built with the outer structure separate from the inner planting container, which makes maintenance and replacing the vegetation easier without touching the structure.

The structures can be in cast iron, steel, corten steel and combinations with FSC Kambala wood or others, while the inner containers are in fibreglass or rotomoulded plastic, materials that resist moisture and do not transfer toxicity to the plants.

All models can be adapted in size, finish or configuration for specific urban projects, and we work with architecture practices, local authorities and developers on customisation projects that start from the catalogue or develop solutions from scratch.
